10 Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Dark Spots On Legs
Let's admit it. Those smooth long legs that glint under the light is a thing for the glossy magazine covers and TV commercials; reality is radically different. Reality is that we do not have long legs, and our partially smooth legs are often riddled with dark spots, marks and stubborn scars!

And these dark sports mar roughly about 2 out of 5 women's skin; yes, it is that common! Also known as hyper pigmentation, it occurs when the skin is exposed to the sun for a prolonged period of time, there is an increase in melanin production, due to ageing or due to improper skin care.
Scars are caused by razors, childhood wounds and skin allergies. It is not just your leg that is vulnerable to dark spots, it can just as easily crop up on your chest, back and hands.

While there is no way to permanently erase the dark spots and scars on legs, you can certainly do things to lighten them. Here are 10 natural remedies to lighten dark spots on your legs.

Lemon
Being a rich source of vitamin C and citric acid, lemon juice sloughs off dead skin cells, revealing clear skin underneath.
Dab a few drops of lemon juice directly on the dark spots. Repeat this process both in the morning and at night, three times a week to see positive results.

Aloe Vera
Rich anti-oxidants and anti-bacterial properties of aloe vera not just heal your broken skin tissues, but also lighten marks.
Take freshly extracted aloe vera juice in a bowl. Immerse a cotton ball in the gel and gently apply it to the affected area. Leave it on for ten minutes and once the skin starts stretching, rinse it clean.

Turmeric
Turmeric contains a component called curcumin, which is a potent anti-oxidant that can rid of most stubborn of pigmentations.
Mix 1 teaspoon of yogurt with ½ a teaspoon of turmeric and a few drops of lemon juice. Apply a thin coat of the paste on the pigmented are. Let it dry before washing it clean with cold water.

Butter Milk
Packed with lactic acid, butter milk not just removes dead skin cells, but also nourishes it.
Dip a cotton swab in raw butter milk and apply it directly on the dark spots. Let it sit for a couple of minutes. Once your skin starts feeling stretchy, wipe it clean.

Onion
Onion literally contains truck loads of sulphur that can cleanse your skin of dead cells, lighten marks, stimulate blood flow and promote regeneration of new skin cells.
Extract onion juice from one diced onion and mix it with a tablespoon of honey. Apply a thin coat of the salve on the affected area. Wait till dry, before washing it off. Follow it up with a soothing body lotion.

Papaya
Papaya carries an active enzyme, which when applied to the skin can erase the most stubborn of skin blemishes, without irritating the skin.
Rub your skin with dry loofah to open pores. Now, mash ripe papaya to a smooth paste. Apply a thin paste to the affected area. Let it sit for 20 minutes and then rinse it clean.

Honey
Honey possesses anti-septic and anti-bacterial properties along with a rich amount of glucose, which when applied topically to the skin promotes skin regeneration.
Mix 2 tablespoons of raw honey with 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Whip until you get a smooth paste. Gently massage it to your skin, and wrap the skin in a hot towel. Once dry, spritz some water and scrub to get an exfoliating benefit.

Tomato Juice
Tomato juice contains an ample amount of essential vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants that not just lighten scars, but also soothe inflammations and unclog pores.
Mix 1 teaspoon of tomato juice with half a spoon of honey. Massage it onto your skin. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then wash it clean with cold water.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is full of saturated fats like caprylic acid and capric acid that can counteract the adverse impact of acne, ageing and molecular degeneration.
Massage your skin with raw coconut oil every night before going to sleep. It will not only lighten scars with time, but you will also notice your skin visibly taut and smooth.


Rose Water
Rose water has rich anti-septic, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties that can treat dry scaly skin, reducing spots.
Mix 1 tablespoon of rose water with half a teaspoon of glycerin. Using a cotton pad, apply the solution to the affected area. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse it clean.
