Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi, also known as Angaraki Sankashti Chaturthi, is an auspicious day dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the Hindu god of wisdom, prosperity, and remover of obstacles.
It falls on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon) in the Hindu lunar month of Chaitra. Let us know the date, time, history, and significance associated with this day.

Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi 2024: Date And Time
This year Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi will be celebrated on 27 April 2024. Devotees observe a fast (vrat) and perform special prayers and rituals to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha for prosperity, success, and the removal of obstacles in life.
As per Panchang, Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Vaishakh month will start on 27th April 2024 at 8:17 AM and will end on 28th April at 8:21 AM.
According to Udayatithi, Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi fast will be observed on 27 April 2024. Lord Ganesha is worshiped on this day and the auspicious time of worship will be from 7.22 am to 9.01 am.
After fasting throughout the day on Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi, the fast is broken by offering Arghya to the moon at night. On the day of Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi fast, moonrise will happen at 10.23 pm.
Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi 2024: History
Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi is considered highly significant for Ganesha devotees, who observe a fast (vrat) and perform puja to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha for prosperity, success, and the removal of obstacles in life. The fast is broken after sighting the moon in the evening sky.
The word "Vikata" means "unusual" or "peculiar," and "Sankashti" refers to the Chaturthi (fourth day) that falls after the full moon. The name signifies the unique nature of this Chaturthi, which is believed to be particularly auspicious for Ganesha worship.
Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi 2024: Significance Of Fast
Every month there are two Sankashti Chaturthi fasts, one in Shukla Paksha and one in Krishna Paksha. This fast is dedicated to the first revered Lord Shri Ganesha and on this day he is worshiped with rituals. The Chaturthi that falls in the Krishna Paksha of Vaishakh month is called Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi.
There is also a tradition of worshiping the Moon on this day and according to the scriptures, worshiping the Moon eliminates Chandra Dosha and the person attains mental peace.
