Varalakshmi Vratha Katha
According to the Varalakshmi Vratha Katha found in traditional texts, Goddess Lakshmi appeared in the dream of a devoted woman named Charumati, who lived in the kingdom of Magadha (some traditions mention Kosala).
The goddess instructed her to perform this sacred vrat during the month of Shravana. Charumati followed the instructions with complete devotion, and she, along with her family and community, was blessed with wealth, happiness and prosperity.
Since then, devotees have continued observing Varalakshmi Vratham every year with faith and devotion.

- Drawing colourful rangoli (kolam)
