According to Hindu belief, Margashirsha Amavasya is considered a very holy day on which worshiping on that day leads to the fulfillment of one's wishes and eternal results. On this day, Lord Vishnu is especially worshiped who is the sustainer of the universe.

Pilgrimage bath has special significance on this day. The time to take a bath is from 05.14 am to 06.09 am. During this time, some people also perform Pitru Puja, the auspicious time of which is from 11.54 am to 12.35 pm.

On this day, by worshiping, Vishnu is pleased and bestows his blessings and as soon as Vishnu is pleased, one also gets the blessings of Lakshmi.
