The Story Behind Vaikasi Visakam
The origins of Vaikasi Visakam are rooted in Hindu mythology. According to traditional accounts, powerful demons were causing suffering and disorder in the universe. Unable to defeat them, the gods turned to Lord Shiva for help.
In response, Shiva released six divine sparks from his third eye. These sparks were carried by Agni, the fire god, and Vayu, the wind god, to the sacred waters of Saravana Poigai. There, the sparks transformed into six infant boys.
When Goddess Parvati embraced the children, they united into one divine being with six faces. This child was Lord Murugan, who later became the commander of the celestial army and the force destined to restore balance by defeating evil. This divine birth is the central event commemorated during Vaikasi Visakam.
