Tara Jayanti 2023: Date And Time, Rituals, Legends And Significance
Sadhana of Tara is known as Aghori Sadhana which is practiced by a cult of aghoris. If Goddess Tara is worshipped on the day of Tara Jayanti, she relieves the sadhak of all sorrow, and bestows him peace and prosperity.

Tara Jayanti is the day the Goddess fulfils all desires especially connected with financial problems and salvation. Tara Devi is also known by other names such as Tarini Devi, Neel Saraswati, and Ugra Tara. These forms are worshiped with the desire to destroy the enemies.
Mahakal Samhita says that Goddess tara self-manifested on Chaitra Shukla Ashtami Tithi, which is why this day is called Tara-Ashtami, and the night of this day is called Tara Ratri.
Date And Time
According to the Hindu Panchang, the festival of Mahatara Jayanti is observed on the ninth day of Shukla Paksha in Chaitra month. This year, Mahatara Jayanti will be celebrated on Thursday, 30 March 2023. Chaitra Navami coincides on this same day of Tara Jayanti.
Rituals
1. Be seated on the Asan facing west and purify the area around you with droplets of Ganga Jal mixed with pure water. Then place a pink cloth on the outpost and keep roses in a plate before you.
2. Install the Tara Yantra on this plate and also install the four yantra instruments and four rice heaps.
3. place a clove on the heap of rice, light a ghee diya in front of the yantra.
4. Chant the mantras of Devi Tara and listen to the Vrat Katha of Devi Tara.
5. Perform the Aarti when the mantras and vrat katha conclude.
6. After the puja, do not discard the yantra; instead, keep it where you normally keep your valuables and cash.
Tara Mantra
Devi Tara should be worshipped by chanting mantras that infuse you with power of speech, destruction of enemies and liberate your soul. Chanting "स्त्रीं हूं ह्रं हूं फट" ensures welfare for all and blesses the seeker with peace.
Restrictions
1. Maha tara Devi worship should be done in the night only.
2. The puja should be performed by the priest alone and no one by his side.
3. Priest should not wear stitched clothes in the presence of Tara Devi.
4. After worship concludes, the puja ingredients used must be buried deep in the ground near flowing water or under the peepal tree.
Legends
Before the creation of the universe, when the whole cosmos was veiled with darkness and only Kali Mata existed, a ray of light entered the universe and brightened it. The presiding deity for this ray was MahaTara Devi. She was named as Tara as she was born out of light.
Significance
Tara Devi is worshipped extensively by seekers annually on the Tara Jayanti in Gotegaon, India, Shridham Maa Tripurasundari Temple, in Jhoteshwar Ashram. Since the worship of Tara Devi includes tantric vidhis and mantras it is not generally popular amongst all seekers.
Worshiping Tara Devi ji with prescribed vidhis bestows happiness and wealth in life. Tara Devi is also known as Tarini Devi, Neela Saraswati, and Ugra Tara. These forms are worshiped with the purpose of destruction of enemies.
