Dealing With Organizational Issues

Many of Gurudev's (Swami Chinmayananda) words, both verbal and written, were dedicated to keep the workers within his own organisation, Chinmaya Mission, motivated, focused, and free from infighting. When difficulties arose within Mission work - as they invariably do in any organisation, no matter how well-meaning its members - letters would flood his desk. His medicine by return mail was sometimes sweet, sometimes harsh, sometimes bitter-sweet:

A very sensitive heart all the time on your sleeve will easily get bruised with words and looks. Keep the heart where the Lord has kept it: well-protected by The ribs! Don't be sensitive; rise above while dealing with others. Get out of yourself and watch and hear yourself performing, standing in their shoes.

Gurudev's devoted workers often worried about collecting the funds necessary to carry out one envisioned project or another the following answer from a letter was a typical response by him.

"When Narayana(Spirit) is with us, Chinmaya Family will not worry over the non-arrival of Lakshmi (wealth).
She cannot ever be away from Narayana!"
