Bhagavan Ramana, the absolute reality, though beyond the human frame and ways, His outward life was characterized by normal and mundane activities. Though beyond all cares, He cared for even the smallest and subtlest detail of each and every devotee's life, which is a continuing story even today.

It was customary of Bhagavan to make jocular remarks now and then. Once when Meenakshi, the wife of Muruganar was meditating with the other devotees in Bhagavan's presence, her thoughts strayed towards a cup of coffee. Bhagavan, the witness of all thoughts remarked jocularly, "When everybody is meditating, Meenakshi is thinking of coffee!" Just then, Manavasi Ramaswami Iyer arrived there with idlies and coffee for the gathering. Bhagavan jokingly said "It appears Meenakshi's tapas has borne fruit. Please serve her first"
