Sawan 2023: Why Fifth Somwar Vrat Is Special, Know Puja Vidhi To Please Lord Shiva
Sawan, also known as Shravan, and is the fifth month of the Hindu lunar calendar. For Hindus, it holds great significance as it is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is during this time, Shiva devotees engage themselves in numerous rituals to please Lord Shiva to get the choicest of blessings. Fifth Somwar or Monday of Sawan has arrived, let us know what is special about this day.
Sawan 2023: Why Is Fifth Monday So Special?
This year, the month of Sawan will begin on July 4, 2023, and end on August 31, 2023. This means it will be there for 59 days which is a rare event and this has happened after 19 years.
Four Mondays of Sawan month have already passed. The fifth Sawan of this year is on Monday 7 August 2023. On this fifth Monday of Sawan, the Saptami date of Adhikamas Krishna Paksha is also observed. Saptami Tithi will start from the morning of 7 August till 04:14 am on 8 August 2023. Along with this, Ashwini Nakshatra is being formed on this day which will start from morning till 01:16 am of the next day.

Sawan 2023: Auspicious Yogas
Ravi Yoga and Shool Yoga are being formed on this day. Ravi Yoga - from 05:46 in the morning of 7 August to 01:16 am of the next day. Worshipping during the period of Ravi Yoga leads to an increase in wealth, respect and fame. Also, Shool Yoga will be formed, which will remain from 08:27 pm (6 August) to 06:17 pm (7 August).
Sawan 2023: Bhadrakal and Rahukal
Bhadra Kaal and Rahukaal are also going to take place on the fifth Monday. Rahukal will be there from 07:26 am to 09:06 am, whereas Bhadrakal is going to be from 05:46 am to 04:41 pm.
Sawan 2023: Shiva Puja Muhurat
Shiva Puja can be done throughout the day on 7 August 2023. However, Abhijeet Muhurta will be from 12:00 noon to 12:53 pm in the day, ie 53 minutes. Whereas the Brahma Muhurta of the morning will be from 04:21 am to 05:03 am. You can do Rudrabhishek on this day anytime between morning and evening.
Sawan 2023: Somwar Vrat Puja Vidhi Or Worship Method
- You need to take a bath in the morning and pray to Lord Shiva.
- You can visit a Shiva temple and perform Jalabhishek or Rudrabhishek.
- You can offer sandalwood flowers, light incense stick, oil lamp, belpatra, dhatura, shami leaves etc. to Lord Shiva
- You can recite Shiva Chalisa.
- You can then perform the aarti of Lord Shiva or Mahadev.
