Saphala Ekadashi 2024: Dos And Don'ts For Getting Lord Vishu's Blessings
Saphala Ekadashi, also known as Safala Ekadashi or Pausha Krishna Ekadashi, is a Hindu religious observance that falls on the eleventh day (Ekadashi) of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Pausha (December-January) according to the Hindu lunar calendar. Each Ekadashi is associated with different legends and significance, and Saphala Ekadashi is no exception.
This year Sapahala Ekadashi will be celebrated on 07 January 2024. Let's know the dos and don'ts associated with Saphala Ekadashi that will help on to receive the blessings of Lord Vishnu.

Saphala Ekadashi 2024: Dos
1. Fasting and Abstinence
Devotees traditionally observe a fast on Saphala Ekadashi, refraining from consuming grains, rice, and lentils. Instead, opt for a simple diet consisting of fruits, nuts, milk, and non-grain items to purify the body and mind.
2. Maintaining Purity
Devotees must wake up and bathe at Brahma muhurat and wear clean clothes. This ritual is done to purify the mind and body.
3. Observing Fast
Devotees should study the Shrimad Bhagavatam or Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and recite Lord Vishnu's mantras on the day of Ekadashi vrat. Also, one needs to follow a vegetarian diet is considered more conducive to maintaining a sattvic (pure) state of mind during this sacred period.
4. Visit Vishnu Temples
Devotees must pay a visit to Vishnu temples and participate in special prayers and rituals organized for Saphala Ekadashi.
5. Charity and Donation
Express compassion and generosity by participating in acts of charity. Consider making donations to the less fortunate, contributing to the welfare of others, and spreading positivity to accumulate spiritual merit.
Saphala Ekadashi 2024: Don'ts
1. Avoid Grain Consumption
Refrain from consuming grains, rice, and lentils during the Ekadashi fast. Abstaining from these foods is believed to enhance spiritual purity and devotion.
2. Say No to Non-Vegetarian Food
Practice abstinence from non-vegetarian food on Saphala Ekadashi. Meat, fish, onions, garlic, eggs, and alcohol are all considered tamasic items and should not be consumed on this day. Also, the devotees must refrain from eating grains and beans.
3. Avoid Picking Tulsi Leaves
Devotees are prohibited from picking tulsi leaves on this day. Also, preparing Ekadashi prasadam in oil is prohibited for those who observe the Saphala Ekadashi fast. It is advised to use Desi Ghee to make the Ekadashi Prasadam.
4. Refrain from Negative Activities
Steer clear of negative activities, including gossip, anger, and any form of harm to others. Use the day to cultivate positive thoughts and actions that align with spiritual values.
5. Avoid Washing Hair
Devotees must wash their hair on the day of Dashmi Tithi and not on the day of Ekadashi fast as it is considered inauspicious.
