Pitru Paksha 2023 Tarpan Mantra: Pitru Paksha is considered a very special and sacred phase in the Hindu religion and it continues for 16 days. During this period the ancestors come to earth to meet their families. This is the reason why family members should take full care of the happiness of their ancestors.

According to the Hindu calendar, Pitru Paksha will start from Bhadrapada Purnima and end on the new moon day of Ashwin month. This year Pitru Paksha will be observed from 29 September and it will end on 14 October 2023.

By performing Tarpan, Pind Daan, and Shraddha rituals for the ancestors during Pitru Paksha, their souls get peace. During this time it is necessary to chant some special mantras. The ancestors become happy, give blessings, and rest in peace.

Mantra To Chant While Offering Tarpan To Father
While offering tarpan to your father, first mix milk, sesame, and barley in holy Ganga water. After this, offer Jalanjali to the father three times. While giving water, one needs to meditate that their father accepts the water in the form of Vasu and will be satisfied. After this, the name of their Gotra is taken and "Gotre Asmatpita (father's name) Sharma Vasurupat Tripyatamidam Tilodakam Ganga Jalan Va Tasmai Swadha Namah, Tasmai Swadha Namah, Tasmai Swadha Namah" is chanted.

While offering tarpan to the mother, chant the mantra of your Gotra (mother's name) "Devi Vasurupast Tripyatamidam Tilodkam Ganga Jal Va Tasmai Swadha Namah, Tasmai Swadha Namah, Tasmai Swadha Namah".

While offering tarpan to your grandfather, take the name of your Gotra and say, Gotra Asmatpitamah (grandfather's name) Sharma Vasurupat Tripyatamidam Tilodakam Ganga Jalan Va Tasmai Swadha Namah, Tasmai Swadha Namah, Tasmai Swadha Namah."

You can also recite Pitru Gayatri Mantra while wishing well for your ancestors and for the peace of their souls. You must chant this mantra on the day of Pitru Paksha and Amavasya.
