Navratri 2023: The auspicious 9 days that is dedicated to Goddess Shakti or Durga is here and it holds immense significance in Hinduism. This year Navratri will begin from Sunday, 15 October 2023. Devotees worship different forms of Goddess Durga on these days and seek her blessings.

Goddess Durga is also known as Amba Mata, Ambaji in Hinduism, and particularly in the state of Maharastra, there are temples that are associated with this deity. Let us know about them where devotees can worship and seek blessings.

1. Mahalakshmi or Ambabai Temple, Kolhapur: This ancient temple is dedicated to Amba Mata or Goddess Durga and is one of the prominent shrines in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. According to Skanda Puran, this one is one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas and the 52nd one, as per numerous religious scriptures.

2. Tulja Bhavani Temple, Pune: This temple is situated in Tuljapur, Pune, and is dedicated to Amba Mata or Goddess Parvati, consort of Lord Shiva. Goddess Parvati is said to reside in this temple. It holds religious significance among the local community and is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Also, this temple is known as Tulja Bhavani temple, which was built in the 12th Century CE.

3. Amba Mata Temple, Nandurbar: The Amba Mata Temple in Nandurbar is a revered shrine where devotees come to seek the goddess Durga's blessings. Gharba is organized during Navratri here while attracting a lot of crowd.

4. Renuka Temple, Mahur: It is one of the Shakti Peethas and is dedicated to a form of Goddess Durga. She is also worshipped as Padmakshi Renuka. The term 'Renu' means 'Mother of the Universe' and is an important place of pilgrimage.

5. Saptashrungi Temple, Nanduri: The term Saptashrungi comes from two words 'Sapta', which means seven and 'shrung' which means peaks. This temple is known as half Shaki Peeth of Goddess Durga or Shakti where Sati's (first wife of Lord Shiva) limbs and right arm fell. There is a belief that Goddess Saptashrungi dwells in the seven mountain peaks.
