Matangi Devi is the ninth in the list of goddesses of Dasa Mahavidyas who is associated with tantra practices, magic and indrajal, siddha vidya, sammohan vidya, and vashikaran as well. She is worshipped for tantric purposes. Connected with all forms of music and fine arts, those intending to excel in the field of music, can pray to her.

She is considered to be the Tantric form of Saraswati who governs speech, music, and knowledge. Some scholars also associate her with Madurai Meenakshi. She bestows learning, wisdom, and ability to do anything. When Matangi Sahasranam is recited, any impediments of dosha that occurred in the marriage of a girl, will be resolved by her grace.

Matangi Puja Vidhi

1. She should be worshipped on Shukla Paksha Tritiya or Navami, tithi during the waxing of moon. Ideal time for the Puja would be during Pradosh, midnight or in the morning.
2. Take a holy bath, wear fresh clothes, and get ready for the puja, place the picture of Matangi on a wooden chowki in your puja mandir, upon which a turquoise colour cloth has been spread. Choose a one wick Diya immersed in pure ghee and light it.
3. Use a dhoop that emit the fragrance of flowers. Worship her with blue coloured flowers. Mix Kajal and Sindhoor and apply this mixture as Tilak on her forehead. Bhog is ideally prepared from coconut, or something with jaggery and sesame. This should be shared, after the puja, with the poor and also your family members.

Mantra to be chanted is: ह्रीं क्लीं हूं मातंग्यै फट् स्वाहा॥ (Hreem kleem hoom Matangaye Phat Swaha)

Special Remedies For Special Problems

1. Financial problems with respect to loss in business and property should offer spinach to Matangi during puja and later offer it to a cow to eat.
2. For improvement in marital life, Keep Kajal before Goddess photo for some time during puja and then wear it every day.
3. For any marital problems. Offer coconut sweet during puja and later it should be consumed by the couple who are in trouble. This will solve all the disturbances in marriage.
4. Those who are ailing, must offer Badam daily to Matangi during Puja and consume it. Any illness or ailment will disappear with constant consumption of Almonds that have been offered to Goddess.
5. Keep you pen in your puja room near the Matangi photo, and then attend your interviews and write your exams using this pen. You will succeed in exam.
6. Present blue and black thread to Matangi while you are dong the puja and tie it later on your right hand. This will shield you from any scandal or ill reputation. It will also keep you away from unwanted controversies.
