Kajari Teej is a significant festival celebrated by married women in India, particularly in the states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. It falls on the third day after Raksha Bandhan and marks the arrival of monsoon season.
One of the essential aspects of this festival is applying intricate mehndi designs on hands and feet. This year Kajari teej will be celebrated on 2 September 2023. On this day women also deck themselves up in beautiful attire and apply mehndi on their hands. We have curated beautiful mehendi designs for you along with tips.

Tips for Applying Mehndi
Prepare your skin by exfoliating gently before applying mehndi. Choose high-quality henna paste to ensure a rich colour. Leave the mehndi on for at least 4-6 hours for optimal results. Once dry, scrape off the dried paste without using water.- Avoid contact with water or any other liquid immediately after removing the paste to deepen the colour.
1. Traditional Rajasthani Mehndi Patterns
Rajasthan has its unique style when it comes to mehndi designs for Kajari Teej. The patterns often depict peacocks, lotus flowers, and other traditional motifs that symbolize fertility and prosperity. These intricate designs are created using henna paste which leaves a deep reddish-brown stain on the skin.
2. Vrat Katha Inspired Designs
During Kajari Teej, women observe a fast known as "vrat." Many mehndi designs are inspired by the stories narrated during this vrat katha. These designs often include symbols like Lord Shiva's trident (trishul), moon, stars, or images depicting scenes from Hindu mythology.

Flowers and paisley patterns are commonly incorporated into Kajari Teej mehndi designs. These motifs symbolize beauty, love, and good luck. Intricate floral patterns with delicate detailing create an enchanting look on the hands and feet of women celebrating this festival.
