Janmashtami 2023: Know Why You Cannot Complete Krishna Puja Without Cucumber On This Day
Janmashtami 2023: Lord Krishna is considered the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, according to Indian mythology and he was born on the Ashtami date of the Krishna Paksha of the month of Bhadon, since then the birth of Lord Shri Krishna is celebrated as Janmashtami.
The waterless fasting and worshipping Lord Krishna that is done on this day are an essential part of the rituals there but there is a special reason why the small idol of Krishna's Laddu Gopal is kept inside the cucumber and he is worshipped only when he is taken out of the cucumber at midnight. Let us know the reason behind this.

Why Is Janmashtami Puja Is Considered Incomplete Without Cucumber?
The idol of Laddu Gopal is kept inside the cucumber throughout the day and is taken out from the cucumber at midnight symbolically to mark the birth of Lord Krishna. It is symbolic because it symbolizes the umbilical cord piercing and it is said that Janmashtami worship is incomplete without umbilical cord piercing.
Lord Shri Krishna likes cucumber very much and therefore dishes made from cucumber are definitely included in the 56 Bhog for him. Cucumber is the symbol of the uterus under the umbilical cord piercing. Lord Krishna was born in the prison at midnight and therefore, this vegetable is used to symbolize his birth.
The idol of Laddu Gopal is kept inside the cucumber or near the cucumber throughout the day and at midnight the Laddu Gopal is taken out by cutting the cucumber with a silver coin. This is symbolic of the biological process of how a child comes out of the mother's womb, after that the umbilical cord is cut. Similarly, the stalk is also cut like the umbilical cord. After this, they welcome Lord Krishna by blowing conch shells and ringing bells. It is believed that if this cucumber is fed to a pregnant woman, then she gets a child-like Lord Krishna.
