Goddess Lakshmi is often worshipped in her eight different forms. These varied forms of Goddess Lakshmi stand for eight different ways that you can gain prosperity and wealth. These eight forms represent the eight forms of 'Aishwarya' that are necessary for a human being to lead a happy and prosperous life.

The eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi are called the Adi Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Dhairya Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Santana Lakshmi, Vijaya Lakshmi, Vidya Lakshmi and Dhana Lakshmi.

It is believed that the one who prays to the Goddess Maha Lakshmi by exalting her eight forms will receive immense wealth and will be showered with all kinds of auspiciousness.

Rules To Follow Before Chanting The Ashtalakshmi Stotra On Akshaya Tritiya

While the rules listed here are applicable for the day of Akshaya Tritiya, they are to be followed on the other days when you chant the stotra too. You must clean the pooja place with Ganga Jal or with clean and pure water.

The idol of Goddess Maha Lakshmi must be established in the northeast corner along with the Sri Yantra. While chanting the Ashtalakshmi Stotra, you may worship both the idol and the Sri Yantra.

Offer flowers, kumkum, a lit lamp and incense to the Goddess. Conclude the pooja by doing an Arati and offer a Bhog of a sweet dish. Kheer made with milk is usually offered to the Goddess.
