Hajj 2022: Three Ways In Which You Can Perform Hajj Or Eid-al-Adha
Hajj is the biggest pilgrimage ever undertaken in the world. Muslims flock to Mecca in order to conform to the fifth pillar of Islam, the Hajj pilgrimage. The Hajj pilgrimage is obligatory for every able Muslim to undertake.
So, how can one perform Hajj? Tradition states three different ways to perform Hajj.
Hajj al-Tamattu
Hajj al-lfrad
Hajj al-Qiran

1. Hajj al-Tamattu
On how to perform Hajj, of the three different ways, this is considered as the best and advised by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), to his followers to undertake. This method is also the commonly adopted way to perform Hajj.
Hajj al-Tamattu is performing Umrah and then Hajj, with one Ihram (the dress code that Muslims are to follow during Hajj) for each of them.
It involves:
- Performing the Welcome Tawaf and Sa'y
- Irham for Hajj al-Tamattu
- Going to Mina from Mecca
- Going to Arafat from Mina
- Going to Muzdalifah from Arafat
- Proceeding to Mina from Muzdalifah
- Tawaf al-ifadha in Mecca
- Returning to Mina from Mecca
- Farewell Tawaf in Mecca
- Departing for home
2. Hajj al-lfrad
Hajj al-lfrad is about performing Hajj only. A sacrificial animal is not considered compulsory while performing Hajj this way. The stages involve
- Performing the Welcome Tawaf and Sa'y
- Going to Mina from Mecca
- Going to Arafat from Mina
- Going to Muzdalifah from Arafat
- Proceeding to Mina from Muzdalifah
- Tawaf al-ifadha in Mecca
- Returning to Mina from Mecca
- Farewell Tawaf in Mecca
- Departing for home

3. Hajj al-Qiran
Hajj al-Qiran, of the three ways to perform Hajj (how to), is done in a combination of Umrah and Hajj with only one Ihram for both.
- Performing the Welcome Tawaf and Sa'y
- Going to Mina from Mecca
- Going to Arafat from Mina
- Going to Muzdalifah from Arafat
- Proceeding to Mina from Muzdalifah
- Tawaf al-ifadha in Mecca
- Returning to Mina from Mecca
