The Nine Nidhis Or Treasures Gifted To Hanuman By Sita

Ashta siddhi nava nidhi ke dātā, asa bara dīnha jānakī mātā: "Mother Janaki(Sita) granted you a boon to become the giver of 8 Siddhis (supernatural powers) and 9 Nidhis ." Mother Janaki had considered Hanuman to be the only worthy soul to receive the gifts of nine Nidhis and Ashta siddhis as he had the merit to handle them. In Hinduism, Nidhi refers to wealth or treasure some of which Lord Kuber possesses a few. He is the governing deity of wealth and affluence. Hanuman attained these treasures only because he was beyond these concepts and his deep spiritual practices have no parallel. The Nav Nidhi are described as symbols of wealth, prosperity, and good fortune. The nine nidhis or treasures that were handed over to hanuman are enlisted below.
Padma Nidhi
Padma means Lotus which follows an entity life after life. A person with excess of sattva, truth, and ethics deserves to gain it. This wealth gets handed down to future generations. These assets will be in the form of gold and silver.
Mahapadma Nidhi
This nidhi is sattvic in nature and stays on for next seven generations and translates to Maha padma or huge lotus. The above two nidhis inspire the entity to indulge in charity.
Nila Nidhi
Nila nidhi is procured through business transactions and is associated with Rajas and Sattva gunas. This gets handed down to three generations. Rajas involves an element of shrewdness and hence it is not considered as equal to the above two nidhis.
Shankha Nidhi
A Conch represents this kind of nidhi. A person owning this nidhi is most selfish who cares for nobody but himself. He earns huge sum of wealth but utilises it for himself and not even for his family.
Makara Nidhi
Crocodile individual is governed by Tamo guna which induces this person to collect arms and ammunitions. Predominantly a tamasic character, he is an evil character and also is known to challenge the authorities. They die due to weapons.
Kachchhapa Nidhi
Kachchhapa means tortoise. This tortoise individual stores great deal of wealth but does not spend it. He is the ideal miser who does not spend it on himself.
Mukunda Nidhi
Mukund nidhi is quicksilver and ruled by Rajo Guna. This nidhi can go down to the next generation but not beyond that. These people earn or attain wealth by fluke and spend all of it in the current lifetime itself.
Nand Nidhi
Long life is surely a treasure to have and Nand nidhi is all about longevity. Influenced by Sattva and Rajo guna, people having the Nand nidhi live a long life. They are ambitious and desparately need to hear their praises constantly.
Kharva Nidhi
Kharva signifies countless cups which is the accumulation of some portion of the rest of eight nidhis. A Kharva Nidhi individual always is on the look out for money and tries to boost his income by procuring wealth from others.
