Of all the Vedic traditions, Ramarcha puja is the most significant yagnya. Recently it was conducted during the Ram Janma Bhoomi pujan in Ayodhya in a very elaborate manner.
It is believed that Hanuman, the presiding deity of Kalyug is the first one to receive worship in Ayodhya. Hanuman garhi, the abode of Hanuman, is seen seated in the Ram Durbar. This time, during the Bhoomi Pujan ritual conducted in Ayodhya Ram Janma Bhoomi, on one of the propitious Tuesdays, the Hanuman Dhwaja or pataka was worshipped and then on the next day Bhoomi pujan was started.
The 'Ramarcha' puja is actually not so much of a regular puja; it can be considered more as a yagnya which involves the recitation of 'Ram Katha' and 'Ram Dhun' which is to be carried out by certain number of priests brought in from holy places. For Ramarcha Puja in Ayodhya, around 11 priests from Varanasi and Ayodhya were called and it took them 6-7 hours to complete it in the Janmabhoomi complex. The Ramarcha yagnya can be conducted at home as well.
Ramarcha Puja Yagnya At The Temple
This worship procedure takes 5-7 hours to complete. Of all the religious rituals that are performed, Shri Ramarcha Puja is deemed to be the best as it fulfils the desired wish when worshiped with a pure heart. A good number of priests are involved for the Ram Katha and Ram Dhun recitation in the temple. In the Ramarcha worship, whatever we offer the lord, for example, a copper vessel, copper pot, water pot, milk, clothes and ornaments are used while giving bath to the deity. Apart from Tulsidal, Til, Janeu, fruits, milk, sweets, coconut, panchamrit, Dry fruits, sugar, Paan, Dakshina and so on are included, as they are a compulsory part of the puja. The Ramarchan puja conducted in Awadh and Mithila region involves sixteen rites. In Janakpur this is done before Janeu Sanskar before marriage.
