Can Unmarried Women Worship Lord Hanuman?
Hindu Gods in India are worshiped by both men and women. At the same time we worship Hindu Gods in many forms as well. Lord Hanuman, also known as 'Vayu Putra' or the Monkey God, is worshiped all over the world.
However, according to some customs, worshiping Lord Hanuman and chanting Hanuman Chalisa is prohibited by women, especially those who are unmarried. However, though this custom of worshiping is under debate, we see many unmarried girls visiting the temple often and offering their prayers to Lord Hanuman. Likewise, another important factor to discuss is the fact that if women are allowed to chant the 'Hanuman Chalisa'; which is said to be very powerful and effective.

According to the Puranas, Lord Hanuman is a 'Brahmachari' and those who are unmarried and wish to remain single all their life tend to worship and follow Lord Hanuman.
Women can worship Lord Hanuman
Though this custom is still under debate, unmarried girls can visit Lord Hanuman temples. However, it is recommended that girls who are not married should not touch the 'sthapit moorthi' or the idol of Lord Hanuman.
The reason why people do not recommend young unmarried girls to worship Lord Hanuman is because he is known to be 'bal brahmachari'. However, girls can be a staunch follower of Lord Hanuman and also chant the 'Hanuman Chalisa'.
Importance of reciting Hanuman Chalisa
Hanuman Chalisa as said above can be recited or chanted by anyone irrespective of gender. Chanting Hanuman Chalisa every Tuesday and Saturday is good for people who are facing 'sade sati'.
