This day is also known as Bakr Eid or Bakrid in India and it is observed during the 'Dhu al-Hijjah', the twelfth and final month in the Islamic year. There is a belief that this month brings the ten best days of the year.
On this day people wear new clothes, and exchange sweets and gifts with friends and family members. It is on this day Prophet Ibrahim agreed to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of sacrifice
