Buddha Purnima 2023: The Major Mantras Of Buddhism For Worldly And Spiritual Purposes
Buddhism has mantras as a part of its tradition. Although Theravada Buddhists recite mantras in pali with vernacular translations uttered inbetween, the Tibetan Buddhism, overall, as a sect, follows Sanskrit mantras to preserve the originality.

Specific mantras, if recited, can make you more compassionate, clear, and enable you to gain a deeper understanding about any discipline. These Buddhist mantras not only help you spiritually but also help you in solving the difficulties of modern life.
Even in Hinduism, there are several mantras which provide material comforts and those which elevate you spiritually. The principal mantra in Buddhism is om maṇi padme hūṃ.
An Awgatha ( a pali word) is a Burmese Buddhist chant. This translates as "hail to the jewel in the lotus." It is known to allay your fears, soothe anxiety and even calm the broken heart. Vishnu is also worshipped in buddhism in the form of Avalokiteshwara in Mahayana group of Buddhism. Indra of Hinduism is depicted as Ganesha in Buddism.
Buddhist mantras, are powerful as they are all phrased in Sanskrit. They comprise mostly of words and syllables but you need dedication and bhakti for making it work.
Practicing these mantras will change the way you see life and your material problems of every day and help you enormously in the way you least expect. By reciting a specific mantra, you will imbibe the qualities associated with that deity.
If you want discernment, then meditate on Manhushri and recite his mantra. If you want to be pure in thought words and deeds meditate on Vajrasattva and recite his 100 syllable or 6 syllable mantra.
Shakyamuni Mantra: This mantra pays homage to the Shakyamuni and invokes the essence of Buddha with its utterance. This chant is about praying to the universe to bring out the nature in you.
"Om Muni Muni Mahamuni Shakyamuniye Svaha Om" as it invokes the Buddha nature. In your chant you are asking for the universe to invoke that nature out in you.
Avalokitesvara Mantra: This mantra is the famous Om Mani Padme Hum mantra which is chanted by Tibetan Buddhists. This imbues compassion in to your personality. Chant it mainly for gaining wisdom and practice with heart felt commitment and dedication.
White Tara Mantra: If good health and compassion is what you want, you can chant the mantra "Om Tare Tuttare Ture Mama Ayuh Punya Jnana Pustim Kuru Soha".
It should be recited only when your feelings towards someone are positive, benevolent, and when you wish well for this person from the depths of your heart.
Healing Buddha Mantra: For any pain or suffering, you can chant this mantra. Chant "Tayata Om Bekanze Bekanze Maha Bekanze Radza Samudgate Soha" . It is known to dispel ignorance, pain and removes impediments on your way to enlightenment and liberation.
Amitabha Mantra: By chanting "Om Ami Dewa Hrih", you can get rid of any blocks and obstacles that are stopping your progress. This also makes a person more compassionate
Lotus Sutra Mantra: This mantra is a part of Nichiren Buddhism teachings which, if followed, brings enlightenment within you. It is a very famous mantra which is recited as Nam Myo Ho Renge Kyo.
Green Tara Mantra: "Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha" is a very important mantra that helps in sorting out emotional and physical blocks. It also removes the blocks that beset a relationship where Green Tara offers assistance.
