Ayodhya Ram Mandir: Temple Receives 1,100 Baskets Of Wedding Gifts From Birthplace Of Sita In Nepal

As the much-anticipated inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya draws near, the enthusiasm of people and devotees is skyrocketing.

On 22 January, the city will witness an extraordinary event, as a 500-strong procession, bearing 1,100 bhars of wedding gifts, embarks on a journey from Janakpur, Nepal, to Ayodhya, which is the revered birthplace of his bride Sita.

According to the reports, the procession will start on 4 January from Janaki Mandir in Janakpur and is expected to arrive in Ayodhya on 6 January, two days later. The distance between Janakpur and Ayodhya is 458 km.

The bhars will be brimming with traditional wedding presents such as jewelry, clothing, gold and silver, dry fruits, cosmetics, and large quantities of food grains like rice. In Hinduism, these items are traditionally given to the bride as gifts from her paternal home when she marries and moves in with her husband.

A member of the committee, Lalit Shah is in charge of Janakpurdhamash Ayodhyadham Bhar Yatra and the plan is to bring offerings from Sita's hometown to Ayodhya for Ram on 6 January.

The distance between Janakpur and Ayodhya is 458 km. In preparation for this auspicious arrival, the local authorities in Ayodhya have made commendable arrangements to accommodate 251 participants from the procession. This will take place before the consecration of the Ram Temple on 22 January.

The journey will commence from Janaki Mandir, proceeding to Jaleshwar and reaching Birganj for an overnight stay. To transport the gifts, there will be around five buses and 30 cars. They plan to cross into India via Raxaul on 5 January, stopping for lunch at Betia, before continuing through Gorakpur and Bastipur to arrive in Ayodhya. The delegation is scheduled to present the 1,100 bhars to the temple trustees at 8 am on 6 January, mentions a report.
