Marriage And Servitude

By Staff

Marriage could be a binding force causing one to bend as low for its unlimited demands. The priests of Govindaji temple in Jaipur were once celibate. Their vow of celibacy had their self esteem intact barring them to stoop down to the trivialities of life. Once the king sent word for the priests who relented the order further more asking in turn for the king to meet them.

The king hit upon a wise plan with the consultation of his ministers. A marriage was arranged for the priests who consented. After the marriage the priests waited upon every little circumstance to pay a visit to the king. They made their presence at the court even without the king's summon, presenting him with a sacred flower from the temple or on any other pretext. Marriage had forced them to succumb on account of receiving favours for the ceremonies associated with their babies.

Marriage thus turns one servile to surmounting demands associated with it.
