Sugar Preaching

By Staff

Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi was incredibly truthful. The following story exposes his intensity in practising the principle. It is a small proof of being a man of action than a man of mere words. A little episode that carries the canon of truth to ponder over on Independence Day.

Once a lady brought her son Gandhiji and requested him to advice her son to stop eating sugar. Gandhiji asked them to meet him after a week. When they returned, he advised the boy to stop the habit of eating sugar. The mother of the boy then asked Gandhiji as to why he had not imparted with the advice a week ago. Gandhiji replied that he first had to give up eating sugar before asking the boy to do so.

Such was the intensity of the truth in his words that bore out of actual experience.
