Aja Ekadashi Vrat Katha 2023: You Should Read This Story While Fasting To Fulfill All Your Wishes
Aja Ekadashi 2023 Vrat Katha: Ekadashi holds immense significance in Hinduism and is extremely dear to Lord Vishnu. There are 24 Ekadashis in a year. The Ekadashi, which falls in the Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month is called Aja Ekadashi. This year Aja Ekadashi will be observed on Sunday, 10 September 2023.
By fasting on Aja Ekadashi and worshiping Lord Vishnu, one not only achieves success in life but can create a gateway for success in the next birth. There is a belief that Lord Vishnu frees one from sins and showers his blessings. But you need to keep in mind that along with fasting on Aja Ekadashi, it is very important to listen to or recite the Vrat Katha. Read on to know more about this day.

Vrat Katha
There was a glorious king in Ayodhya whose name was King Harishchandra. He was truthful and never deviated from his promise. His fame started spreading in the other world. Seeing his spreading popularity and devotion to the truth, sage Vishwamitra thought of testing him. He asked for his kingdom as a gift from King Harishchandra. The king gave him his entire kingdom. So much so that when there was no money left to give Dakshina, he sold himself, his son, and his wife.
Now the king started doing work related to cremation at a ghat in Kashi. Their owner was a Dom who asked them to collect money before cremation. One day the king felt very guilty. At that time Rishi Gautam passed by there. The king served him and narrated his story. Gautam Rishi felt pity. He told the king that Aja Ekadashi falls in Bhado Krishna Paksha, he should observe that fast. This will make his suffering go away.
Then when the king observed the fast of Aja Ekadashi, his troubles really started going away. The king regained his lost power and by the grace of Lord Vishnu, the king's dead son also became alive. Everything went well. The devotee who observes this fast as per the rituals gets the blessings of Lord Vishnu and becomes full of happiness and prosperity.
