Do Celebrating Festivals And Special Occasions Together Bring Couples Closer?
Festivals and special occasions are the spells we love to fall under and it is that time of the year when it brings people together irrespective of their caste, colour or creed. And anyone growing up in India will be familiar with the feelings because the year stays loaded with festivals and special events most of the time.

No matter what goes on in an individual's personal life, during festivals or special dates, they still manage to keep it aside and bring a smile to their faces. But, for some, it can be challenging and overwhelming.
The festivities, vibrancy and merriment associated with it, the oil lamps, colours, sweets, props, music, house cleaning, cakes, decoration and buying clothes make it extra special. In this country, there are a string of festivals, like diwali, bhai dooj, new year, pongal, onam, holi, pujas, religious and cultural observances and more when people vibe at a different level altogether.
So, in special moments like these, it is obvious that you would want it to be celebrated with your partner. From shopping together, dressing up, decorating the entire house, inviting people, and getting gifts, these tiny things can change the way you bond with your partner.
According to a 2020 University of Illinois study, it was found that 'Rituals have the power to bond individuals and give us a preview into family life and couple life. We found they help magnify normative relationship experiences,' mentions Chris Maniotes, the lead author of the paper, published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships.
Here are some tips and suggestions for you so that you understand where your relationship is heading at.
1. Gauging The Emotional Depth
Staying emotionally available means sustaining emotional bonds in a relationship. So, if you have a partner who is willing through little things, help you on special occasions, engage in conversations while making decisions, build beautiful memories, and get excited about anything that you are involved in, it could be a good thing and can end up in a long term relationship.
2. Whether Or Not It Adds Spark
If that person makes your heart race in a good way and there is no shortage of adventure, you may want to hold it forever. It can be a kiss on the forehead or holding hands in front of everyone, declaring love in the public, if you feel inside your heart there is a series of fireworks, then go for this person.
3. How Approachable They Are
Celebrating important dates with your partner is one way to get them involved on a deeper level in your life. You can not only celebrate the special day but also connect with your partner on a whole new level. See and understand how they feel about it and how approachable they are or how dependent you can be on them. If they are available no matter what, then your relationship is heading in the right direction.
4. Level Of Emotional And Physical Investment
There will be certain stages in your relationship that will hint at whether or not that special someone wants to be with you. It can be related to doing rituals, or celebrating festivals, anniversaries or birthdays. Through that one can very well picture their love life and family life. These events can lead you and your partner to slow done, pause for a moment and take a better look at the relationship as a whole.
