Beyond Words Or Gestures

Relationship
A new research has found out that people relate to others not just through gestures or words. They relate to their fellow beings through odour, proximity and even temperature.

Gun R. Semin, a researcher at Utrecht University in The Netherlands said that the environment we live influences our judgements on people and things.

This was proved with a series of tests, which was held on a group of people. They were asked to write down judgments about people depending on the narratives they read about different personalities who act intelligent, stupid or neutral, later come to a conclusion if the person is intelligent or social.

The results which came up after the test was surprising. They judged a person as sociable when the room was warm and vice - versa when it was cold.

There are previous studies too to prove that in a warm surrounding people recalls happy and loving memories but in a cold environment they prefer to recall memories of solitude. This says that people relate well during warmer circumstances.

Semin also conducted a test by keeping two individuals together and asking them to judge a personality. The test showed that when the individuals were together they judged the personality as sociable and not when they sat away from each other.

Scientists also claim that smell plays a vital role in one's relationship with others. This could be because people judge others with the odour they carry or the perfumes they use.

Also a study which was held on a group of women showed that, women's brain responded to men's sweat differently depending on how the sweat was generated, if it was due to erotic feeling or any other normal circumstances.

Hence relationships are not made only with the words or gestures, it's contributed through factors like smell, proximity or temperature.
