Though, I couldn't make much sense out of it, but the puzzling statement was enough to make me ask him what the matter was. I sat down, all ears. I knew I had to wangle out the matter from him – a journalist after all. The talks between both of us got over soon, but the interesting part was yet to come. Even before we reached the end of the conversation, I had already made up my mind: I had to write a story on the same – not on the conversation we had, but on the issue we had spoken about. Well, it's about the qualities that women like to have in their man. Ah, interesting, right? Yes, I know. Every man at some point in time must have asked himself. And the answer must have been too superficial; just like as the question is. Well, I thought, may be I can try to entwine this mystery. Now, as I have become a journalist, the frowning faces and the raise eyebrows can also be avoided; this wouldn't have been the case had I been a student. I can go around asking questions now. I couldn't do the same till a year back.
So, there I was, all set with my new venture, with dozens of questions in my head, and a long data basis, which I called 'Operation Reveal'. The answers I got were mixed, just like the sex - the fairer sex - females. And the worst part was what all started as a way to untwine the complex understanding of the gender, made me all the more confused. I mean, it's surprisng to see how one can expect so many things at a time, and from one person – the so called males. However, I decided to take the best ones discarding all the others. So, it goes some thing like this-
Radhika, who works as a teacher says: "I want some body who can love me like there's no tomorrow. Somebody whom I can count on till the last breathe I take." If that's how a teacher think, what's that a student could ask for. Sherlyn, pursing M.A. in communication, is cocky to admit, "I am the only child of my parents. I can't think of living with some body who can't pamper me". "I have to be pampered at all times." If pampering was the prime concern for her, her friend, Silpa, had some thing else in her mind. "I want my boy to be clean. There are a lot of these boys' who live a very disorganized life. I can't see that in my beau," says the girl while she slurped the melting con of ice cream. Deepashree, who works as an H.R. in one of the corporate firms asks for some thing else.
She, quite pragmatically says: "I think understanding is what's needed for a successful relationship". She adds, "I want my boy to understand me a lot. You can trust, love, live. All you need to have is understanding." Priyanka, a law student supports her view, when she says: "Along with understanding I need my boy to give me the required space I need. I don't want him to be overprotective and intervene in everything I do. That's absurd". And just like a lot of other girls today – open, blunt and genuine – she, though a bit reluctant, admits: "I feel sex is important in any relationship, but it has to be within certain parameters. 'No hardcore sex'." Jaya, a technocrat working for one of the leading I.T.firms in Hyderabad says: "I want my boy to be really wild on bed. It's just a day or two that we get to spend with each other. I don't want him to miss that." Speaking about sex, there were a lot who shared common views. Nandita (name changed) was cocky to admit, "My beau does wonders. He is the man that shakes me from within. I can't imagine my life without him."
There were a handful of other girls who shared different views. Sweety, a student pursuing medical, more than anything it was bikes that mattered. "I have great fetish for bikes. Who ever plans to have a relationship with me, needs to have a bike," says the girl in a husky voice.
So, here I come with a conclusion. 'Operation Reveal', though a success (of course to a minimal limits) will, for sure, confuse a lot reading this. It will always be a try for the mankind to understand the conscience of the females. They say even the learned scholars had to give up their try on this. So, I, too, leave this to you to think with a hope that in future some thing concrete will surely come up. When the men's can cockily say, "Yes, I'm in and out to my girl."
