Foods To Ease Constipation In Toddlers
Even toddlers can get constipated. If your toddler has not been having proper bowel movements since a few days, then it is a matter of concern. Often when the child is constipated, he/ she will not eat properly as well.
Stomach pain, bloating, loss of appetite and crying while passing stool are common symptoms of constipation in toddlers. There are many causes of constipation among toddlers. Improper diet which is not rich in fiber but processed foods is one of the primary causes of constipation. Moreover, drinking less fluids can also harden the stool and make it difficult to pass.
If the toddler doesn't have a lot of physical movements, it can also cause constipation. Moving the body keeps the bowels moving too. So, make sure that your toddler is active. Play with him/ her so that it keeps them active and healthy.

Change in the diet or introducing new foods can also make the toddler constipated. For example, if you are introducing formula milk over breast milk, then the child will take some time to accept the new fluid.

Foods To Ease Constipation In Toddlers:

Bottle Gourd
Bottle gourd is very rich in water. The high fiber and water content in the green vegetable makes it a healthy food to ease constipation in toddlers.

Green Vegetables
Green leafy vegetables like spinach, broccoli digest easily and are rich in fiber and water. This is an easy way to ease constipation in kids.

Whole Grains
These are one of the most healthy and effective foods to ease constipation in toddlers.

Water-Rich Fruits
Adding some water-rich fruits in your toddler's diet is a good idea. Fruits like berries, watermelon are rich in water and soluble as well.

Wheat Flour
Replace refined flour with wheat flour. It is rich in grains and soluble as well. Refined flour on the other side is sticky which can harden the stool.

Flaxseed
Adding some flaxseed in the soup or oats will be good for treating constipation in kids.

Yogurt
Yogurt not only provides the cooling effect, but also helps constipated kids. The dairy product is also rich in essential vitamins and minerals which are required for the development of the kid.

Water
Lack of fluids on the body can make you constipated. Kids do not remember to drink water. So, make sure you give healthy fluids like fruit juice and water.

Fruit Juice
Give apple, pear, watermelon etc juice to ease constipation in kids. Even banana shake can soften stool and make it easy to pass it out.

Oranges
As it is the season of oranges, adding some citrus fruits like oranges is a healthier option. Moreover, oranges are rich in fiber which can improve bowel movements.
