Studies have shown that the number of single fathers has drastically increased than a few years ago. There are few characteristics that are noted with single fathers, they usually have a cohabitating partner. Another interesting fact is that they have higher incomes than most of the single mothers.

Inopportunely, the person who is suffering most in this type of a condition is the child. The child goes through all the trauma of the separation and then when they stay with the father, it becomes a little more stressful for that little body to handle. But, unfortunately in most cases, single parenting comes into play and fathering a child alone will be needed. Reasons vary; death, diverse or separation! Communicate
This is one of the most important thing while fathering a child. You need to listen to the problem of your child and also has to ask the child how to solve the problem. If you feel you have a better solution, let your child know about it. Keeping yourself open for communication is the key.

Teaching them to solve the problems
One of the parenting tips for fathers will be to sit with them and to work their way through the problem. Give them an opportunity to think through an issue, develop alternatives and then come to conclusions which are suited for you and the child. This will require a little bit of patience. Since it is time consuming, you just need to have a mind to do it.

No Overprotection
This is only a natural reaction when you are fathering a child alone. It is not possible to see your child struggle to deal with their problems. When you tend to overprotect your child, there is no doubt that they will become a rebel or dependent, both outcomes are not a positive signs in a child.

Be involved
Try to be involved in their lives as much as you can. This will make them feel that you care for them and that you want them to improve. Make opportunities to be together, this will help in building a good relationship with your child. Be involved but keep a distance too, this will help them understand that you trust them.

Support Groups
This could be one of the tips for fathering a child. You could join a support group in your neighborhood or talk to more single parents. This will help get you talking to the other fathers who are going through the same situation as you are and indeed can help each other.
