1.The first impact of divorce on children is that they loose focus of the present surroundings for they know that life is going to change when they have to shuttle house to house. If you are raising a child who is entering his/her 20's then you might be lucky to make them understand that you and your husband do not want to stay together. But, if you are raising a teenager, then problems would get out of hand.
2.The impact of divorce on children sure does make parenting a whole lot difficult for the child learns to believe that they do not have good parents as they are separating! This is quite natural for them to think so because they do not grasp as to how their parents can stop loving each other!
3.A feeling of abandonment is a common impact of divorce on children. Smaller aged feel that since their parents do not love each other and are not staying with each other, they will be abandoned and left in an orphanage for someone else to take on the responsibility for their upbringing. Children need to be told over and over again that they will never get that feeling of not being loved by both the parents and that though their whole life would be shifted, the feeling of love will always remain.
4.In a whole lot of families the most common thing known is that the impact of divorce on children is so harsh that they tend to stop loving their parents. Children feel that since their parents do not love each other, it is not necessary to not love them back. Do not let this set into the mind of your child, explain to him/her that you an your spouse will always be there at every moment in life and make sure you and your partner keep up the word, to avoid the lack of trust which could be dangerous for the parents and child relationship.
