Parents are spending lesser time with their children, thanks to the financial crunch in that most of the families are facing. As a result, the parents are spending more time in the office to earn more.

In the professional rat race, the parents are missing out on quality time with their families. On an average, most parents spend only 49 minutes in a day with their kids.

Research suggested that rising numbers of “pound sign parents" only valued activities that cost money – leaving children to themselves at other times.

A survey of 3,000 parents and 1,000 children, has concluded that work pressure during recession is the biggest cause of this trend.

10 per cent families spend no more than two hours with their kids, while one third of all parents think quality family time costs money and an astonishing 68 per cent of parents see money as the biggest barrier in spending more time with their family.
