What's On Menu For PM Modi's State Dinner At The White House? Did We Hear Peacock Theme?
We got a sneak peek through media preview at the United States First Lady Jill Biden's upcoming state dinner on Thursday for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it is thoughtful, gorgeous and customised to a T according to PM Modi's taste.
While talking to the press just a day prior to the event, Jill Biden said, 'Tomorrow night, the guest will walk across the South Lawn into a pavilion draped in rich greens with saffron-coloured flowers at every table - the colours of the Indian flag' and it will feature millet dishes in addition to gourmet specialities aligned with PM Modi's culinary tastes.

The Chefs
The menu for the state dinner will be developed by the Guest Chef Nina Curtis closely worked with First Lady Jill Biden and White House Executive Chef Cris Comerford, and White House Executive Pastry Chef Susie Morrison, mention reports.
Curtis is a culinary artist based in Sacramento, California and she is celebrated for her unique skill and creativity when it comes to plant-based cuisine. Her passion for this cuisine spans over 20 years of serving in key roles, including Director of Culinary and Executive Chef positions.
The chefs have been working on the menu for this State Dinner for months and they are thrilled that India is at the forefront and putting efforts to celebrate the year of Millet, which has been incorporated in the menu and was inspired by PM Modi's call to promote millets.
'The theme, the inspiration of state dinner was the India's national bird peacock,' White House social secretary Carlos Elizondo told the press.
What's On Menu?
- The first course will include marinated Millet and Grilled Corn Kernel Salad, compressed Watermelon and tangy Avocado sauce.
- The main course will include stuffed Portobello Mushrooms and creamy Saffron-infused Risotto. It will also have Sumac-roasted Sea Bass; Lemon-Dill Yogurt sauce; crisped Millet cakes and Summer squashes.
- Finally, the dessert will include Rose and cardamom-infused strawberry shortcake.
Post dinner, guests will be able to enjoy a musical night and one of the performers will be Joshua Bell, a GRAMMY Award-winning violinist, soloist, recitalist and Conductor. He is currently the Music Director of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.
PM Modi arrived in Washington from New York on Wednesday. In NY, he led a historic event at the UN Headquarters earlier in the day to commemorate the 9th International Day of Yoga, and it was attended by UN officials, diplomats, and prominent personalities. He will also hold bilateral talks with President Joe Biden and address a joint session of the US Congress.
