Solar Eclipse in October 2023: When And Where Can You See Surya Grahan?

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking all or some part of the Sun's light from reaching Earth. Also, an observer can 'solar ring' which is commonly known as a 'ring of fire' or annular eclipse. An annular solar eclipse or partial solar eclipse occurs when the Moon partially covers the center of the Sun, leaving a ring-like or "ring of fire" appearance around the edges of the Moon. This happens because the apparent size of the Moon is smaller than that of the Sun during this type of eclipse.

According to NASA, this solar eclipse will be visible from Mexico and some Central American countries. The 'ring of fire' solar eclipse will pass in front of the sun between 8:35 pm India time on 14 October and 2:25 pm on 15 October. However, it will not be visible from India.

Lunar Eclipse in October 2023: When And Where Can You See Chandra Grahan?

Like a Solar eclipse, lunar eclipse is a celestial event that occurs when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon and causes the Earth's shadow to be cast onto the surface of the moon. Due to this, there is a temporary darkening of the Moon as it moves into the Earth's shadow. One can see a lunar eclipse with the naked eye.

This lunar eclipse will be seen from Asia, Russia, Africa, the Americas, Europe, Antarctica, and Oceania. Also in India, people will be able to witness it in the south-western sky from New Delhi. According to reports, at the time of maximum Eclipse, the moon will be 62° above the horizon. In India, the maximum Eclipse will occur at 1:45 AM, when 12% of the lunar disk will be in shadow.
