Schools On Alert! Bomb Threat Emails Hit Noida And Ahmedabad Just Days Before Republic Day
With Republic Day just days away, a wave of bomb threat emails sent to schools in Noida and Ahmedabad triggered immediate concern, swift security action, and early dismissal of students today, on Friday, January 23, 2026.
Among the institutions affected was The Shiv Nadar School in Noida, along with several private schools in Ahmedabad. While no explosives have been found so far, authorities treated the threats seriously, prioritising student safety over routine schedules.
What Exactly Happened
This January 23rd, bomb threat emails were received by school authorities in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The timing raised alarms, arriving just three days before Republic Day, a period already marked by heightened national security.
In Noida, The Shiv Nadar School confirmed receiving the threat via email. Similar emails were reported by multiple private schools in Ahmedabad, prompting parallel responses from local authorities in both cities.
Immediate Response On The Ground
In Noida, police teams were dispatched to The Shiv Nadar School soon after the threat was reported. Bomb disposal squads and dog squads conducted thorough checks of the campus. Fire brigade personnel were also placed on standby as a precaution.
As part of safety measures, students were sent home early. The school coordinated with its transport teams to ensure buses dropped students at designated points. Parents were advised to remain in contact with bus staff while receiving their children.
In Ahmedabad, local police, bomb squads, and fire services carried out security checks at affected schools, following standard threat-response protocols.
What Authorities Are Saying
Police officials in both cities have confirmed that no suspicious objects or explosive materials have been found during inspections so far.
Cybercrime units have begun analysing the emails to trace their origin and determine whether the threats were hoaxes or part of a larger pattern. Officials have urged parents and the public to remain calm and rely only on official updates, rather than speculation.
Why The Timing Is Crucial
Republic Day is one of India's most sensitive security periods. Any threat-credible or otherwise during this window is automatically treated with seriousness. Schools, especially those with large student populations, fall under enhanced vigilance protocols during such times. The coordinated response across two major cities reflects that heightened alertness.
The Bigger Picture
For parents, the disruption was unsettling but also reassuring. The speed with which schools and authorities acted shows a system that errs on the side of caution when it comes to children's safety.
As investigations continue, officials are focusing on identifying the source of the emails and preventing similar incidents in the lead-up to Republic Day celebrations.
The bomb threat emails may have caused temporary panic, but the response from schools and security agencies was measured, organised, and safety-first. While unanswered questions remain about who sent the threats and why, what's clear is that authorities are taking no chances especially when it comes to students and national security. Updates are expected as the cyber investigation progresses.
