Salim And Salma Khan’s 61st Anniversary: Family Reunion, Star Guests and A Double Celebration Inside
Celebrations lit up the Khan household as Salim Khan, the veteran screenwriter, and his wife, Salma Khan, celebrated an extraordinary milestone: their 61st wedding anniversary. What started off as a peaceful family gathering soon converted into a warm, star-studded evening, thanks to the presence of their children, grandchildren, and some of Bollywood's closest names. The party, held at Sohail Khan's residence in Mumbai, was an intimate affair that radiated old-world charm and togetherness, much like the Khan family has always been known for.
A Star-Studded Family Celebration
The anniversary party brought together close family and cherished friends. Bollywood icon Salman Khan made a low-key but heartfelt appearance in a simple black tee and jeans, with waves for the paparazzi.
Also present was Salim Khan's second wife, Helen, who brought a smile and grace through the door, emphasising how close-knit and blended the Khan family has become.
Salim and Salma's daughter Alvira Agnihotri, her husband Atul Agnihotri, and their daughter Alizeh were also on the guest list. Joining them were family friends Sonakshi Sinha and her husband Zaheer Iqbal, further adding to the celebratory spirit.
A Love Story Unlike Others
Salim and Salma first tied the knot in 1964, long before Salim became a household name with cinematic classics like Sholay, Zanjeer, and Deewar. Their interfaith marriage, with Salma (née Sushila Charak) hailing from a Hindu background, was rooted in mutual respect and deep love from the very beginning.
In a heartwarming moment he once shared in an interview, Salim said of how he told their children about his love for Helen, even before marrying her:
"You won't understand it now... but I want the same respect for her."
His openness then - and Helen's gracious presence now - highlight the family's unity.
Layers of Celebration: More Than Just an Anniversary
This wasn't just about Salim and Salma. It was a double celebration - the family also marked the 11th wedding anniversary of Arpita Khan Sharma and Aayush Sharma. The evening's centre-piece was a beautiful twin cake display: one cake bore the initials' S' for Salim and Salma and was topped with "61," while the other celebrated Arpita and Aayush's 11 years together.
A Celebration of Legacy and Togetherness
Photos from the evening reinforce a strong message: decades of love and understanding have built more than just a family; they've created a legacy. For over six decades, Salim and Salma Khan's marriage has been a testament to endurance, sacrifice, and harmony. This was not an anniversary of mere date significance but one of deepest personal feelings, surrounded by family, good cheer, and that respect earned only through time.
