Republic Day 2026: Tableaux Showcase India’s Culture, Freedom Legacy and Self-Reliance

During the 77th Republic Day Parade which was held on January 26, 2026, 30 colorful tableaux coming from different sources, made their way down Kartavya Path where President Droupadi Murmu and the chief guests from the European Union were seated. These representations, 17 States and Union Territories as well as 13 Central Ministries/Departments, highlighted India's deep cultural heritage, freedom struggle, developmental achievements, and the journey towards self-reliance, under the twin themes of "Svatantrata ka Mantra - Vande Mataram" and "Samriddhi ka Mantra - Aatmanirbhar Bharat."

Assam's tableau featured Asharikandi Terracotta Craft Village, celebrating the region's traditional clay art and indigenous craftsmanship.

Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh presented The Mantra of Freedom: Vande Mataram, highlighting its cultural role in India's freedom movement.

Gujarat

Gujarat exhibited the Mantra of Swadeshi emphasising the spirit of self-reliance and freedom derived from local identity and entrepreneurship.

Kerala

Kerala's tableau highlighted Water Metro and its achievement of 100% digital literacy, symbolising inclusive development and modern connectivity.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra portrayed Ganeshotsav as a cultural emblem of local community strength and independence.

Manipur

The Manipur tableaux illustrated the transformation from the crop fields to the global markets, thus showing the country's economic growth and the opening of the opportunities.

Nagaland

Nagaland's tableau celebrated the Hornbill Festival, weaving together tribal heritage, tourism and cultural pride.

Odisha

Odisha's tableau depicted the "Soil to Silicon" theme, tracing the state's development from agrarian roots to high-tech innovation.

Punjab

The Punjab tableau paid a tribute to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji thus honouring his bravery and sacrifice for the cause of human dignity.

Rajasthan

Rajasthan highlighted Bikaner's Usta Gold Art, celebrating royal craftsmanship and artistic refinement.

Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh showcased Bundelkhand's cultural heritage and the region's developmental aspirations as part of a broader state narrative.

West Bengal

West Bengal's display highlighted the state's pivotal role in India's freedom struggle and cultural renaissance.

Jammu & Kashmir

Jammu & Kashmir exhibited its handicrafts and folk dances tradition that reflected the region's cultural diversity and artistic heritage.

Madhya Pradesh

Dedicated to Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, the tableau celebrated her legacy of just governance, temple restoration, women empowerment, and cultural preservation.

Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu presented the Mantra of Prosperity, emphasising its developmental momentum across sectors.

Puducherry

Puducherry showcased its rich cultural and craft heritage along with the vision of Auroville as a beacon of harmony and creativity.

Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh featured themes of Dev Bhoomi and Veer Bhoomi, honouring spiritual heritage and valour.

Ministry of Culture

The Ministry of Culture presented "Vande Mataram: The Soul, Cry of a Nation, " a work commemorating the 150th anniversary of India's national song and highlighting its unifying legacy.

Ministry of Information & Broadcasting

Featured "Bharat Katha", illustrating India's storytelling tradition from ancient times to modern global media leadership.

Ministry of Home Affairs

Showcased the landmark criminal justice reforms, emphasising a modern, citizen-centric legal system replacing colonial laws.

Department of Military Affairs

Presented the Tri-Services "Operation Sindoor" tableau, symbolising the joint strength and operational integration of Army, Navy and Air Force.

Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (CPWD)

The ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (CPWD) presented a floral tribute to the 150 years of Vande Mataram, which combined the patriotic feelings with the artistic expression.

It highlighted the nation's progress in energy security and sustainable power initiatives.

Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship

It celebrated skill development as a key driver of employment, innovation and self-reliance.

Ministry of AYUSH

The Ministry of AYUSH had its primary focus on traditional systems of wellness and holistic health as integral facets of the national identity.

Showcased the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and its role in shaping future-ready education.
