Horses are fascinating! They are such a beauty! When you are mounted atop them, you feel absolutely regal. A horse running at full speed is always a sight to behold. Its black mane flying along those brown shoulders create a spectacular sight indeed. Their energy is indisputably the best! When you are riding a horse, the world feels awesome. Love for horses comes naturally for many. Of course, there are people who are scared of horses and will stay away from them.
There's more to a horse than strength, power and beauty that is attributed to it. You should know that there are different variants of horses, each completely different from the other. A whole book can be written stating some absolutely unknown facts about a horse: on the way horses sleep, their sizes, their lengths, facts about ancient horses or their history, etc.

Sleep While Standing
This is an absolutely interesting fact about horses. Some horses sleep comfortably while they are standing. These horses can sleep while lying down too but they sleep long hours while standing.
Origin
It's interesting to note that horses have been found in the nature in some form or the other since 50 million years. The first variant of horses was called Hyracotherium, which was about as tall as a fox. The modern horse has come a long way, and gone through many changes.
Age Estimated by Teeth
If you are attempting to estimate a horse's age, it can be best known by their teeth. All horses require proper dental care to keep the teeth in good condition.
Can't Burp
Unlike humans, horses can't burp, breathe or vomit using their mouths. They have a digestive system that works one-way. They efficiently process their foods but often face a lot of issues because of the single direction of their digestive system, which can result in colics.

Have you ever seen the horse's eye? It's one of the largest among all mammals and, they are not colour blind as is popularly believed. It's funny but true that the teeth take up more space than the brains in a horse's head. There are 40 teeth in an adult male's mouth while its 36 for an adult female. A horse's height is measured using hands wherein each hand is 4 inches.
Arabian Horse
Have you seen the Arabian Horse? It is the foundation of many light horse breeds! It possesses some absolutely unique characteristics. One such characteristic is that these horses have one fewer vertebrae, rib and tail bone when compared to other horses.
They Are Herbivores
Horses are herbivores by nature. If you look at their teeth, their positioning and formation, the eye positioning and the digestive system, you would know that they have herbivores characteristics.
Herds
They live and move in herds. Most domestic horses are happy when they are in their own company. A single horse will always stay unhappy. It needs a partner to keep it company.
Foals Facts
When foals are born, their legs are about 90% the height of their adult legs. It's a fact that foals are generally born in the night. Within an hour of their birth, foals can stand up. Foals can start running about almost immediately after their birth.
