On Perfume Day, couple gift various fragrances to each other and enjoy the mingling amongst the romantic aroma. Perfumes, however, when created had no romantic connotations, they were used by the Egyptians as a balm to apply on the Mummy and for other religious ceremonies. It started being used for romantic purposes in the 1580 AD, by queens to enhance lovemaking.
