Be Creative, Be Like An Extrovert

By Suparna Chakaraborthy

Extrovert
According to a new study, extrovert and outgoing people in good mood are more creative than introverts. Lorenzo Stafford, University of Portsmouth psychologist, found that the reason behind their creativity is the 'happiness chemical" dopamine.

As for introverts, it has been noticed that they lack creativity even if they are in happy or neutral mood.Stafford said, his results showed personality and mood play a significant role in creativity.

"The more outgoing a person is, the more active their dopamine system is and a positive mood increases dopamine activity even further in many parts of the brain. It is the combination of the extrovert personality-type in a positive mood which encourages more creative performance, and not positive mood alone," he said.

Extroverts in nature are explorers and thus are in constant hunger to know more. This is one of the reason which heightens their creative side. As for introverts, they like to keep everything to themselves and thus their learning is also limited. They are not open to the world.

Creativity is not reflected only in work but also in your performance in the stage of life.

Though extroversion is an inert trait, introverts can try and adopt few qualities of extroversion. The first being talking to people. It is really surprising that how we can get to know so much more on a topic by just discussing it with others. It enhances your knowledge by leaps and bounds.

Change your mindset about being social. Mostly introverts avoid parties and conversation for the fear of not being able to participate in the conversation. The solution is to believe in yourself. No one is perfect. Don't be too conscious about what you speak. Go with the flow and join in.

Get socially active. Hiding away from society will make you an outcast but being socially active will get you many hands to support. Socially active does not mean to submit in others view and losing your stand. The first step to being social is to keeping your own stand but respect others as well.

Be open to learning. No one is gifted with all the knowledge, you have to learn it from others and share yours. Use what you learn everyday. Accept the good and bad of it. At the end you will know what is the best.

Accept criticism and question. Crying in a corner of the room for being scolded is not the solution. Accept your mistake and ask the way to correct it. Nothing else can make you learn better.

In each of the points you will get to learn something new and thus extend the horizon of your understanding, thus enhancing your creativity.
