Fornatale attempts to segregate fiction from "400,000 versions of the truth" in the book. The disc spinner, however, said a definitive book on the music festival, billed as An Aquarian Exposition, could probably never be inked.
Thirty-two of the best-known musicians of the day appeared for the festival held from August 15 to August 18 in 1969 in front of nearly half a million concertgoers. It is being widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in popular music history. It was listed on Rolling Stone's 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll.
The event has previously been captured in a successful 1970 documentary movie, Woodstock, and Joni Mitchell's song Woodstock.
