Nokia, Knight Rider's Presenting Sponsor
Kolkata: Nokia, world's leading mobile manufacturing company, has inked a deal with Shah Rukh Khan's IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to be its presenting sponsor.
The announcement was made jointly by Nokia India vice-president and Managing Director D Shivakumar and Shah Rukh Khan here recently.
''Cricket and Shah Rukh are two passions that youth of the country connects with. We are excited to be associated with KKR and look forward to creating an action-packed season,'' Mr Shivakumar said.
On the occassion the Badshah of Bollywood said, ''Nokia's sponsorship is like coming together of two big passions - cricket and keeping in touch with loved ones.'' They also launched their promotional album 'Nokia 2 Hot 2 Cool' featuring five songs composed by Vishal Shekhar, Pritam and Bappi Lahiri and sung by Kunal Ganjawala and Vishal Shekhar.
The songs will be available with all Nokia 5610 and 5310 XpressMusic handsets.
''My team is a seemingly disjointed bunch of brilliant players, who really intimidate all opponents whenever they are on the field, and there is a lot of intrigue as to how this bunch will actually perform together,'' Shah Rukh quipped while unveiling 'Millan of the Villains'.
Aimed at creating platforms for consumers to 'connect' with the KKR team, the contest invites people to send in their ideas on how they would make the 'millan' of Shah Rukh's players possible.
The contest will run for four weeks simultaneously with the IPL extravaganza and five winners will be chosen every week, who will get a chance to watch KKR in Eden Gardens on May 16.
They will also get the opportunity to meet Shah Rukh and his team members at an exclusive Nokia 'After Game' Party the same evening.
The contest, which starts from today, will have May 14 as the last date of receipt of entries.
