Just-A-Pause : The World Is My Oyster

With the world subjected to global warming, unfortunately the oyster is almost overcooked now, definitely not the way most of us like it, I'm sure.

There is an overload of information in every medium possible on global warming. Yet, it is not enough to stem the inevitable.

But what does this term mean to us? The overall comprehension is that in a few years from now there is going to be a huge meltdown, leading to floods and most lands will be under water. There will be earthquakes and other natural calamities. We have already started experiencing the onset, with unpredictable weather, blowing hot and cold at the drop of a hat.

Due to this, the iconic fashion houses are facing a huge problem first hand with their Seasons Fashion Clotheslines. The climate these days hardly goes by the specific seasons of summer, autumn and winter any more. Besides, the take for very heavy clothing has reduced, since people now prefer to go in for layered stuff that can be peeled of, or added on depending on the weather at that point of time.

The modern day lifestyle also has an impact on global warming. What's more is that with the ever rising divorce rates, people are bound to live separately and thus logically the energy consumption is doubled.

On a serious note, we can do our bit by recycling. Yeah! That's the magic word. Recycle for lifecycle. We can start in our home with garbage segregation of wet and dry. Recycling of electronic goods have also been initiated by Government bodies in some countries.

To lessen the use of plastic bags, always make sure to carry a cloth bag from home while shopping. But then, how will the plastic industry grow?

In your office, recycle paper and try not to remove unwanted print-outs. This will save trees from being cut to manufacture paper. But then, how will the paper industry grow?

Business houses use this tag line "Save Trees" as their Corporate Social Responsibility message. Yet in a blink of an eye, trees are felled to build huge commercial complexes to further business. It's a contradiction. Land is used to set up huge factories that emit poisonous gasses into the air. But then, how will the economy grow?

Corporate houses are having their pie and eating it too. Some are trying to do their bit by curbing carbon emissions and in turn earning carbon credits.

It is all in our hands. We could use the public transport system. But people still prefer using their cars. Is it because it is below their level to use public transport? Besides, how will the automobile business grow?

It's a double whammy.

While the world is ours to do what we want with it, whenever we want to, it's high time we wake up to the fact and act, before the pearl just disappears.
