The facade of beauty

By Super Admin

At some level don't we all judge a book by its cover or date a person for his or her looks? Falling in love with a beautiful looking person is only natural if not perfect. There have been many debates on the ugly side of beauty. Philosophers like Theophrastus may have called it a 'silent deceit' or Socrates called it ' the short lived tyranny.' Research shows that attractive people have more occupational success and more dating experience than their unattractive counterparts. Beautiful looking people are considered to be more intelligent, better adjusted and very popular in society.

David Beckham, Angelina Jolie, Elizabeth Taylor, Clint Eastwood, Grace Kelly, Johnny Depp, Enrique Iglasias , Jennifer Lopez, Tom Cruise, Richard Gere, Julia Roberts Gayathri Devi, Aishwarya Rai, Brad Pitt, Pierce Brosnan, Cristiano Ronaldo, Michael Ballack, Maria Sharapova, Cindy Crawford , Anna Kournikova ,Andre Agassi and Bill Clinton are some of the world's most good looking people.

Beauty in its physical manifestation has captivated millions of hearts to the point of destruction. Regarded as the most inspired character of literature , Helen of Troy epitomizes pulchritude alloyed with devastation. Beauty is here to stay. It is an aspect of nature which will stay eternally through all generations.

Though a recent study claims that good-looking people do better in life, there are many angles to the theory. At times beautiful looking people take their looks for granted by not working on attire, attitude and presentation.

There are many industries where good looking people are highly essential namely, the hospitality and airlines industry. The rationale behind recruiting good looking people is that customers and clients are more than willing to communicate with a pleasing personality. In the film industry, it's not just about the good looks however, talent carries a good amount of importance.

People who are not good looking have innumerable insecurities. Lack of confidence, low self-esteem and inadequate amount of attention from others. Since time immemorial, beauty has been laid on many negative connotations like beauty and virtue do not go together. The emphasis on inner beauty has always been highlighted and may never cease! As Jean Kerr, the famous American playwright disgusted with the pretentious notion of beauty said ' I tired of all this nonsense about beauty being only skin deep. That's deep enough. What do you want, an adorable pancreas?'
