With the anticipation building towards the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya that is scheduled to happen on 22 January, PM Narendra Modi has announced that he will undertake an 11-day anushthan (a series of rituals), leading up to this main occasion.

On his social platform X (formerly Twitter), he said in a video message, "Only 11 days are left for Ram Lalla's 'pran pratishtha' in Ayodhya. I am fortunate to witness the auspicious occasion. God has asked me to represent the people of India during the ceremony. Keeping in mind, I am beginning an 11-day special ritual from today. I seek blessings from all of you." "I am short of words to express my emotions at this point of time. It is an initiative on my part," he added.

According to Hindu shastras, the 'pran pratishtha' ceremony is an intricate and sacred process that breathes life into a deity's idol. It involves a series of precise rituals that must be performed with utmost dedication before the main ceremony begins. Prime Minister Modi, despite his demanding role, has shown an unwavering commitment to undertake these practices and as a result, he will embark on an 11-day Anushthan.

Following the age-old traditions, he will be adhering to a regimen that includes waking up during the Brahma Muhurat, engaging in prayers, and maintaining a simple diet.

Preparations are in full swing, and the atmosphere is electrified with spiritual fervor. The ceremony is not just a local event but a national celebration, with VVIP guests from across India and the globe invited to partake in the festivities.

On 16 January, the Vedic rituals will start, which is just a week before the main event. A priest from Varanasi, Lakshmi Kant Dixit will perform the main 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony on 22 January. According to the news reports, 1008 Hundi Mahayagya will be organized in which thousands of devotees will be fed. Further, tent cities are being erected as well to accommodate 10,000-15,000 people, Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust has said.

Also, local authorities in Ayodhya are coming forward to ensure stringent security measures and logistical arrangements are in place by anticipating a surge in visitors around the grand ceremony so that it remains a spiritually enriching experience for all attendees.
