Pariksha Pe Charcha 9th Edition Episode 2: PM Modi On Exams, Pressure And Smart Preparation
Pariksha Pe Charcha has now become a familiar norm in India's exam season - a space where marks, fear and expectations are talked about without alarm bells. The 2026 edition continued that approach, and Episode 2, held today on February 9, focused squarely on what students are dealing with right now: pressure, confusion about passion versus studies, overuse of technology, and the constant fear of "falling behind".
Interacting directly with students, parents and teachers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi kept the conversation practical. Just straightforward guidance on how to approach exams and life around them with clarity. Below are the key messages from today's episode, explained simply and honestly.
Choosing A Career Is About Exploration, Not Panic
Responding to questions around career confusion, PM Modi acknowledged that it's natural for students to feel drawn to multiple paths while growing up. He pointed out that frequent shifts in interest may worry parents, but curiosity itself isn't a flaw.
What matters, he said, is not being impressed by success alone. Students were encouraged to look beyond end results and instead learn from the early struggles and beginnings of people they admire. The message was clear: inspiration should deepen understanding, not create pressure.
Leadership Begins With Understanding People
When asked what truly defines leadership, PM Modi moved the conversation away from positions and titles. Leadership, he said, is not about elections or authority, it is about the ability to understand people before trying to influence them.
According to him, only those who listen and understand others can communicate meaningfully. Persuasion, guidance and responsibility come from empathy, not dominance - a lesson that applies as much to classrooms as it does to life beyond them.
Learning Improves When You Teach Others
Offering a practical learning technique, PM Modi advised students to help classmates who may be struggling academically. Teaching, he explained, strengthens one's own understanding because it forces clarity of thought.
By explaining concepts to others, students not only help peers but also reinforce their own preparation - turning collaboration into a powerful study tool rather than competition.
Technology Should Assist You, Not Control You
Addressing concerns around artificial intelligence and technology, PM Modi said there is no reason to fear technological change. Every generation, he noted, has questioned new tools from computers to modern machines yet progress has always continued.
His caution was against dependency. Students were advised to use technology wisely - for example, to discover good learning resources but not allow it to replace thinking or effort. When usage turns into habit without awareness, he warned, technology stops being helpful and starts becoming a distraction.
Discipline Sustains What Motivation Starts
On the question of motivation versus discipline, PM Modi said both matter - but discipline is what gives motivation direction and longevity. Inspiration may spark action, but without discipline, it fades quickly.
According to him, consistent habits and structure are what turn goals into progress. Discipline, he stressed, is not restrictive, it is what allows growth to continue even when motivation dips.
Balancing Art, Creativity And Academics Is Possible
When students asked about managing creative interests alongside academics, PM Modi urged them not to treat the two as separate worlds. He explained that subjects like science can be learned creatively through visualisation, drawing and design.
Art, he added, can also act as a release from academic fatigue when practiced regularly. Instead of seeing creativity as a distraction, students were encouraged to integrate it into their learning process.
Nation Building Begins With Everyday Habits
Linking personal discipline to larger goals, PM Modi spoke about how students can contribute to the vision of a developed India. He explained that progress does not begin with grand gestures but with everyday behaviour - following rules, avoiding waste, respecting public spaces and supporting local products.
Initiatives like Vocal for Local and Wed in India were cited as examples of how individual choices collectively shape national growth.
A Practical, Grounded Conversation With Students
Episode 2 of Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026 remained rooted in real student concerns - from careers and confidence to technology and discipline. Rather than offering sweeping motivation, the focus stayed on habits, thinking patterns and choices students make daily.
The underlying message was steady and reassuring: growth comes from awareness, consistency and balance not fear, comparison or shortcuts.
