Novotel Bengaluru Techpark presents 'A Playful Night'

Novotel Bengaluru Techpark, the upper mid-scale hotel brand of hospitality giant Accor showcased its upcoming open air, poolside Resto-Bar "Blue Terrain" to the glitterati, trend setters and top corporate clients. The main attraction of the evening was the performance of Dario Fo's rib tickling comedy "Open Couple", starring the inimitable Rubi Chakravarti and Rakesh Batra. This furious fast paced comedy directed by Ashish Sen and music by Bharath Nayar and Divyanka Arunkumar turned out to be an exclusive evening of cocktails, theater and sumptuous food.

The two day extravaganza witnessed a brilliant performance by Rubi who sizzled as always in the thought provoking yet hilarious play while Rakesh Batra was energetic and did great justice to the plot. The play appealed the audience with its furious and brutal battle of the sexes encompassing everything from gender bias, chauvinism, relationships and everything in between with appropriate use of props during the performance. The event saw the presence of socialites and biggies from the corporate world like Priya Chetty Rajagopal, Aarti Sud, Aloma and David Lobo, Praveen Sood, Lalit Sanghvi, Abhijit Saha, Ila Dorairaj Naidu, Madhu Natraj, Chytra V Anand who were engaged in delightful conversations while relaxing over cocktails and dinner.

About The Play-

The play is written by the Nobel Prize winning Italian playwright Dario Fo and his wife Franca Rame. It is a witty and preposterous comedy about a husband and a wife who experiment with an "open relationship". The plot is about a couple married for more than 10 years and reckoning with seemingly predictable marital issues: A bored husband looks for distractions outside the home front, while a neglected wife suffers from low self-esteem and suicidal tendencies... until she is persuaded to take a lover. Fireworks follow; roles are reversed as a rib-tickling game of 'one up-person ship' follows. But there is more to this ding-dong battle. Wrapped within the garb of a political comedy, 'The Open Couple' takes a hilarious albeit furious look at the battle of the sexes. This furious and brutal battle of the sexes encompasses everything from gender bias, chauvinism, relationships and everything in between.
