Landlord Wants Tenant To Share Room With Her Daughter And He Turns To Twitter For Answers
When a young MBBS student found himself in a unique housing situation, he sought the wisdom of social media to navigate the complexities of having his landlord's daughter move into his all-male flat.
Sachin, shared his predicament on 'X', formerly known as Twitter, revealing how his landlord requested her daughter, who is preparing for the NEET exam and struggles with physics, to live with him and his roommates in their 3 BHK flat in NCR.
Given the societal norms and potential for misunderstandings in mixed-gender living arrangements, Sachin's situation is fraught with considerations both practical and social. His landlord's trust in him is evident, as she believes he would be a positive influence on her daughter's academic journey. Sachin also mentioned that, "She trusts me a lot. I wouldn't be lying if I say she trusts me more than her son."
The affordability of the current living arrangement is clear. Sachin and his two roommates enjoy the comforts of a fully furnished 3BHK flat at a cost significantly less than the college hostel, paying around 7k per person monthly (19k in total excluding electricity), he shared on 15 February 2024.
This post has gone viral in no time and it has triggered a series of responses on potential scenarios in the future, with many urging caution. Concerns range from the practicalities of shared living spaces to the risk of misunderstandings or false accusations in a mixed-gender arrangement. The suggestion to lower the rent was a common theme among the responses, with some advocating for a significant reduction to account for the added occupancy.
One user cautioned, "If you are a male and she is a female, it makes matters worse. The whole thing is fishy. Just don't budge. Leave the place the minute she takes admission." Others highlighted the need for Sachin to protect his interests, with advice centering on the potential for the situation to complicate his life unexpectedly.
