Happy Birthday Dipika Kakar: Her Journey With Shoaib Ibrahim Shows How Love Grows Through Adversity
This year, as Dipika Kakar celebrates her birthday today, there's more to honour than just a new year in her life. Over the past several months, she's faced one of the most difficult health battles of her journey so far. And through it all, Shoaib Ibrahim has remained a constant-taking care of their child, managing the household, supporting her through surgery, and sitting beside her in the ICU without a second thought.
Their love story is built on shared responsibility, personal setbacks, and an unspoken understanding of what it means to truly show up for someone.
On her birthday, we revisit how their relationship came to be-and how it continues to hold strong, especially when life gets unpredictable.

From Co-Stars To Lifelines
Dipika and Shoaib met in 2011 on the sets of 'Sasural Simar Ka', where they played an on-screen couple. At the time, they were simply colleagues sharing scenes. A few years later, after Shoaib left the show and Dipika went through a personal separation, their friendship began to deepen off-camera.

They supported each other in the background, showing up in small but consistent ways. By 2016, they had grown close enough that their families were involved, and their bond became stronger than speculation or public curiosity.
A Wedding Rooted In Family
Dipika and Shoaib got married on 22 February 2018 in Bhopal in a close-knit Nikah ceremony. She chose to convert to Islam, embracing a name change as part of her new beginning. Their wedding was more about creating a home than a media moment.

They've since lived with Shoaib's family, something they both chose intentionally. From festivals to daily meals, they've always included their extended family in their shared journey, something both their followers and loved ones admire deeply.
Parenthood, Loss, And Starting Again
In 2022, Dipika experienced a miscarriage. The couple spoke about it later with care and honesty, acknowledging grief without turning it into a headline.
In June 2023, they became parents to a baby boy, Ruhaan. He was born prematurely, and the initial days were filled with concern. But together, they navigated those early parenting challenges with patience and faith. Since then, they've shared glimpses of life and sweet moments with their son.
When Love Shows Up During Illness
In 2025, Dipika was diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer. A long, complex surgery followed-14 hours, partial liver removal, and weeks of post-operative care.
During that time, Shoaib didn't just support her, he stepped into every possible role. He managed their son, comforted their families, handled hospital formalities, and stayed awake night after night so she wouldn't feel alone in pain.
Dipika later wrote, "You haven't slept for nights, even now when I'm back home," in a birthday tribute to Shoaib.
Choosing Each Other, Again And Again
Their love story was one that adapted to change. And it held up even when life pushed hard. On Dipika's birthday this year, what stands out is not just a celebration but the strength of a relationship that has weathered more than most, and still chooses togetherness as the answer.

Shoaib and Dipika didn't just find each other. They've stood by each other. Through recovery, through parenting, through fear, through hope. And that's what makes this day and their story something worth holding close.
